The Cultural Council of Georgetown County is excited to present a dual art opening for the “All-County Youth Art” and “Paint Springfield Plantation” competitions. Winners will be announded for the Young Treasures Art Scholarships and the coveted cover of this year’s Chocolate Sunday invitation.
This is a free event, open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
The duel exhibit showcases the work of students from throughout Georgetown County, and is part of the Cultural Council’s “Young Treasures” scholarship competition.
Winners will be announced for scholarships to study art privately during the 2014-15 academic year. The organization also distributes music scholarships through the program.
The second component of the exhibit will feature submissions by local adult artists for the “Paint Springfield Plantation” competition, with the winner receiving a cash prize, with their work of art used as the cover for the Chocolate Sunday invitation, the group’s main annual fundraiser, held this Sept. 14 at Springfield Plantation, the magnificent home of J. and Peggy Stokes, Plantersville.
