  • Thursday, July 24, 2014

A call about a man with a gun at the Pawleys Island Sonic Drive-In sent deputies rushing to that location at about 10:30 p.m., July 12.

A woman said she had picked up her daughter from work at McDonald’s and was cutting through the parking lot of the Kangaroo convenience store.

She said she got behind a white Honda Accord. The woman said she was going to Sonic so she turned onto Petigru Road and was still behind the Accord which made the same turn.

According to the woman, the driver of the Accord pulled off the road and as she was passing she saw the male driver pointing what appeared to be a handgun at them.

“They were unsure what they really saw, so they continued on to Sonic,” the report states. The driver of the Accord followed them to the restaurant with his high beams on.

The Accord driver pulled in behind them in the drive-through line. After they placed their order, the Accord driver stopped beside them, rolled down his window and said something to them they could not understand.

He then brandished a long silver semi-automatic pistol and gestured to them with it.

The man, who is unknown to the woman and her daughter, sped out of the parking lot and was not found by deputies.

Bullet on the bed

A woman from the 800 block of Parkersville Road reported finding a bullet on her bed at about 11 p.m., July 4.

She said as she looked around after finding the bullet she saw a hole in the ceiling above the bed.

“It appeared someone fired in the air and this is where the bullet came down,” the officer wrote.

Knock out threat

A man who lives with his girlfriend on High Ridge Loop in Pawleys Island is accused of making threats toward her July 4.

The woman said the 63-year-old man screamed in her ear and said if she said another word he would “knock her out.”

She told the deputy she feels if she had been alone with the man he would have carried out the threat but her daughter was in the house and he knew if he did anything she would testify against him, the report states.

The woman said similar threats had been made three times in a three-day period.

The man was charged with criminal domestic violence.

Missing fruit money

More than $1,500 was reported missing from a fruit and vegetable stand operated in the 11100 block of Ocean Highway July 7.

The owner of the stand said he was contacted by an employee about money missing from the cash register.

There are no named suspects but the worker said he went to the bathroom and when he came out he saw an older female and three younger males walking around the area of the cash register.

The four left in a white Toyota truck.

Cigarette theft

A manager at the Pawleys Island Kangaroo Express met with a deputy July 9, and said he was reviewing video from security cameras from the previous evening because the cigarette count was short.

He said as he was watching the video he saw a man drive up in a tan four-door sedan. He said the man walked in the store as the clerk was in a cooler restocking.

The man is seen walking behind the counter, grabbing six cartons of cigarettes and then he walked to another part of the store and concealed the cigarettes under his shirt.

The man then left the store.

The manager said the man comes into the store four to six times a week but he does not know his name.

Information is subject to change as investigations proceed. Individuals arrested and/or charged have not been convicted.
