Teen killed in early morning crash in Murrells Inlet

One person was killed and another is hospitalized after a one vehicle accident that occurred in Murrells Inlet early Friday.

Lance Cpl. Sonny Collins of the South Carolina Highway Patrol said the accident happened about 12:05 a.m. in 5400 block of Wesley Road.

He said the driver of a 1994 Nissan 300 was traveling south when the driver ran off the road and struck a tree.

The driver, identified by Coroner Kenny Johnson as 17-year-old Alexander Joseph Fedak of Sunset Drive in Murrells Inlet, was killed in the crash while the passenger had to be cut from the car and was transported to Grand Strand Medical Center.

Collins said both people were wearing seat belts.

The name and condition of the passenger has not been released.
