Georgetown’s Rep. Carl Anderson will be competing against Sam Floyd, Cezar McKnight and Rep. Ronnie Sabb for the Senate District 32 seat in the upcoming primary.

Filing for the seat closed July 14 at noon.

The seat was left vacant after former Sen. John Yancey McGill assumed the role of lieutenant governor.

The special election primary will be held on Sept. 2 to select the Democratic Party’s candidate. All four men who filed belong to the party.

Rep. Anderson registered in Georgetown County. Floyd, McKnight and Rep. Sabb registered in Williamsburg County.

District 32 spans Georgetown, Williamsburg, Horry, Florence and Berkeley counties.

Voters wishing to participate in the special election primary must register to vote by Aug. 2. If a primary runoff is necessary, it will be held Sept. 16.

The special election will be held Nov. 4 and will appear on the general election ballot.
