The service in the union of Leigh Courtney Duncan of Pawleys Island and Robert Gary Humphries of Georgetown was Sat., May 3, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Saint Mary, Our Lady of Ransom in Georgetown with the Rev. Ronald J. Farrell officiating.
A reception followed at South Island Plantation club house.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul H. Duncan III of Georgetown. She is a graduate of Georgetown High School. She is a certified pharmacy technician employed at The Prescription Shop.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Humphries of Prospect. He is a graduate of Johnsonville High School and Williamsburg Technical School with a degree in industrial electricity and is employed at International Paper Company.
The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore an ivory gown of satin with a chiffon overlay with cap sleeves and split front. Metallic lace of sequins and pearls encompassed the cap sleeves, bodice and split front as well as the chapel train.
She wore a two tier veil of tulle with pearls and sequins surrounding the edges. Her bouquet was a single white hydrangea with greenery and wrapped with ivory satin.
Matron of honor was Kim Dunn. The bridesmaids were Latasha Davis, Jessica Duncan, Maribel James, and Diona Leak. Junior bridesmaid was Anna Dunn.
Flower girls were Caroline, Tinley, and Alayna Duncan, nieces of the bride.
Best man was Wade Humphries. Groomsmen were David Cribb, Kyle Duncan, Gary Humphries, and Dennis Thompson. Junior groomsman was Jackson Duncan. Ring bearer was Garrison James.
Readers for the ceremony were Gary Humphries, father of the groom and Kyle Duncan, brother of the bride.
The organist was Edwin Hopkins and William Kennedy was the soloist. The couple chose the songs “Ave Maria” and “Hear Us Now, Our God and Father.”
Greeters were Mr. and Mrs. John R. Cribb and Ava Dunn.
A rehearsal dinner was provided by the groom’s parents at Saint Mary, Our Lady of Ransom fellowship hall Fri., May 2.
The couple honeymooned in Gatlinburg, Tenn and now make their home in Georgetown.
On Feb. 22, the attendants hosted a couples credit card shower for the couple at Santee Cooper club house. The hostesses were Tasha Davis, Jessica Duncan, Kim Dunn, Maribel James and Diona Leak.
A miscellaneous shower was held at Lakewood Baptist Church on March 22 hosted by Sheryl James, Betty McLeod and Shelby Miller.
A miscellaneous shower was held at St. Mary’s Parish Center on April 6. The event was hosted by Faye Altman, Mary Cribb, Frances Howard, Mary Lee, Beth Maslowsky, Jeanette Renault, Shirley Riley and Brenda Stroup.
