This week Sinetic Sports, Inc. hosted a basketball camp for the local youth at Kingstree High School. The camp, which lasted four days, was instructed by former NBA player Sheron White.
A majority of the children in attendance were first timers who had never attended a legitimate basketball camp. The first two days of the camp focused on the fundamentals and physical aspects of basketball. For the other two days, the kids were taught about following their dreams, and to keep their focus on what they truly want in life. Sheron White was generous enough to provide us with an interview.
When asked to provide a summary about the camp, he replied “It was a fun time, and an intense few days. We tried to center the camp around listening and discipline, while also making it fun for everyone involved.
The camp worked through smoothly, this wasn’t our first go-around.” White also went on to say that while the camp was about basketball, the emphasis of the four days was based on dreams and reaching your full potential. At the end of the camp a guest speaker was invited to lecture the camp participants.
That speaker was Xavier McDaniel. Xavier McDaniel was the fourth overall pick in the 1985 NBA draft. He played for six teams throughout his 13 year career (including one team in Greece), and has even had television and movie appearances.
Kingstree hopes to again host this fabulous program next year, and its scheduling is in the works. We would once again like to thank Sinetic Sports, Inc. on hosting this fabulous camp and we look forward to hosting them in the upcoming future.
