If you’re new to the coast or haven’t attended a recent meeting, it is especially important that you be informed and prepared.
The 8th annual Public Hurricane Meeting will be held Wednesday, July 9, in Duffy Center at St. Michael Church, 542 Cypress Ave., Garden City. There will be two meetings: 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Doors will open at 1:30 p.m. for the afternoon meeting and 6 p.m. for the 7 p.m. meeting.
WPDE-TV will broadcast the 7 p.m. meeting live throughout the State of South Carolina and make it available nationally.
Allison Floyd and Tim McGinty, WPDE-TV news anchors, will moderate the evening meeting.
Presentations by Randy Webster, Horry County Emergency Management and Sam Hodge, Georgetown County Emergency Management will show destruction caused by storm surge, recent changes made in the event of an evacuation, and how the Counties work together in an emergency.
Ed Piotrowski, Chief Meterologist at WPDE-TV, will show the timeline development of tropical storms and their inherent destruction. Russ Dubisky, South Carolina Insurance News, will be available to answer any insurance questions you may have.
