I am very pleased to report progress on multiple existing projects as well as introduce new proposed.

Parsons Scholarships

Andrews Lunch Rotary Club awarded the Parsons Scholarships to five well-deserved, top notch AHS graduating students from the Class of 2014 on May 29th. They are Joseph Bailey, Anthony Nesmith, Kaylan Bouchette, Emmaline Paschall, and Sara Grace Salley. Each student received $4000.00 in financial assistance per academic year for the next four consecutive years totaling to an intellectual investment of $16,000.00.

Chamber Board

I have accepted an offer to serve on the board made by the Georgetown County Chamber of Commerce. It is a three year term starting in July of next month. I look forward to working closely with Chamber in assisting ABA, or Andrews Business Association.

Business Plan

Of course, a Business Plan is an ongoing work in progress. The integral part to this plan will be including an Economic Development Plan.

Andrews Business Association

I have been named the Chair for Andrews Business Association. ABA is seeking to hold an annual town festival called Andrews Heritage Festival in the spring of next year. With an increasing support coming from some of the major companies as Safe Rack to Three D Metal Works, we are on our way to success in building a healthy business community in a small town.

Downtown Revitalization Project

I will be meeting with the Downtown Revitalization Project committee members next week to discuss the set up of a new headquarters’ office in the corner of the old Wildes Furniture store building on Morgan Avenue. Some of the business activities that we intend to conduct there include design, planning, research and development, display work in progress on the walls and hold meetings. Basically, it will serve as a design studio space. One of the things we intend to closely study is the impact on the Town post 521 bypass phase II construction. I do not believe this phase will devastate the Town if we start planning ahead.

Currently, we have a dysfunctional municipal organization. The Town’s administration infrastructure requires many improvements. Therefore, I am encouraging the Council to embrace and work with me on organizing several committees consisting of at least two other council members other than the Mayor.
