Georgetown downs Andrews 7-2

Seth Poston and Drew Williams each had two hits to lead Georgetown’s Junior American Legion team to a 7-2 win over Andrews on June 25.

Poston scored the first run of the game on an error in the bottom of the first inning and Tyler Baxley scored on a single by Michael Moore to give Georgetown a 2-0 lead.

Georgetown extended its lead to 4-0 in the second inning. Williams and Brett Howard got singles and advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Matthew Owens.

Williams then scored on a single by Poston and Howard scored on a single by James Carr.

Andrews cut the lead to 4-2 in the top of the third inning.

Dylan Morris, J.B. Glisson and Mason Jones all singled to load the bases, and Morris scored on a fielder’s choice by Luke Lambert. Glisson then scored on a single by C.J. Bone.

Georgetown then put the game away with three runs in the bottom of the fifth.

Baxley and Moore reached on errors and Baxley scored on a single by Tyler McAlister.

Williams then doubled to drive in Moore and McAlister.

Williams went 2-for-2 with a run and two RBIS; Poston went 2-for-3 with a walk, a run and an RBI; and Howard went 1-for-3 with an RBI.

“Defensively, the last two games, we’ve had no errors,” said Georgetown coach Ben Waddle. “I’m proud of that. It’s been a struggle this summer.”

Georgetown is 5-6 on the season.

Pawleys Island

Pawleys Island gave up seven walks, hit four batters and committed four errors in an 11-4 loss to Conway on June 24.

McKinley Grooms went 2-for-3 with two RBIs; Daniel Rourk went 2-for-4; Conner Eckard went 1-for-3 with an RBI; and Alex Alltman went 1-for-2.

Pawleys Island is 8-2-1 on the season.
