Law enforcement officers recognized

The South Strand Optimist Club held its’ first annual “Recognition of Law Enforcement Officers” program at its’ monthly meeting on Thurs., June 1, at Applewood House of Pancakes, 14361 Ocean Highway, Litchfield. This program honored law enforcement officers who provided exceptional service or aid to the youth of the South Strand.

Those honored included: Sergeant Ursular Armstrong, Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office; Sergeant Jeff Benton, Horry County Sheriff’s Office; Sergeant Murrey “Lee” Black, Surfside Beach Police Department; Officer James T. Burroughs, City of Georgetown Police Department; Lance Corporal Erik Karney, South Strand Precinct, Horry County Police Department; Officer Tracie Milligan, Pawleys Island Police Department. This program was sponsored by Applewood House of Pancakes.

The South Strand Optimist Club serves the town of Surfside Beach, the communities of Burgess, St. James, Garden City Beach, Murrells Inlet, the Waccamaw Neck, and the city of Georgetown.
