The Rev. Arthur W. Ford will be the guest speaker for the Family and Friends Day Program on Sunday, July 6 at 4 p.m., at Bethel AME Church in the Plantersville community of Georgetown. A native of the Dunbar community, Ford is married to the lovely Joann W. Ford. To this union, they are the proud parents of two children: Justin Arthur and Gabrielle Amanda Ford.
Academically, Ford graduated from Choppee High School in 1974. He attended Voorhees College where he received a BS degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. Ford was employed at South Carolina Public Service Authority (Santee Cooper) for thirty years, and he served as a lab technician, continuous emissions monitoring system coordinator and supervisor of bulk material handling. As a member of Nazareth AME Church in the Choppee community, he served as church school teacher, lay organization president, trustee pro-tem, and chairman of the building fund.
Upon accepting his call in ministry, Ford attended Erskine Theology Seminary in Due West where he earned a Master of Divinity Degree. He is an itinerant elder in the AME churches and is the former pastor at Friendship-St Mary AME Church. Currently, Ford is serving as the under shepherd for Greater St. Mark AME Church in Hemingway.
