Man pistol whipped, robbed in Greentown

  • Friday, June 27, 2014

The Georgetown County Sheriff's Office says a man was pistol whipped and robbed in the Greentown community Friday afternoon and his attacker is still on the run.

Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Carrie Cuthbertson said deputies were in the area when a man, whose face was covered in blood, was seen walking on Player Road.

“When sheriff's deputies approached the male it was obvious he was in need of medical assistance. Upon questioning the victim, deputies learned the victim was just robbed of an undetermined amount of money and subsequently pistol whipped,” Cuthbertson said. “After the robbery and assault occurred, the unknown suspect ran in the woods off of Player Road toward McDonald Road where it is believed he left the area in an unknown vehicle.”

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5'9”, 160 pounds wearing a white shirt with white pants and armed with a handgun.

Anyone who has any information on the identity of the suspect, who may have witnessed the robbery, or has any information about the robbery is asked to call the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office at (843) 546-5102.
