Seven-year-old killed in Hemingway fire

HEMINGWAY, S.C. - Fire officials are investigating a fire in Williamsburg County Tuesday morning that left one person dead and six people without a home.

According to a Deputy Coroner Vernell Fulton, the fire happened at a home outside Hemingway on Canterbury Loop near Bartells Road Monday night.

Fulton said one body was recovered once firefighters were able to get inside the home. Fulton could not release the name of the victim, but said she is a 7-year-old girl.Six other people were injured, some critically, from the blaze, which was reported to 911 at 11:46 p.m. Monday.
