Franklin Williams, age 69, of Hemingway
Bertha Lance Morant of Plantersville died on May 30, 2014 at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
The daughter of the late Pompey and Minnie Johnson-Lance was born on Jan. 28, 1924.
She was a member of Greater Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church and sang on the Senior Choir.
Mrs. Morant received her education in the Georgetown County School District.
In the 1960ís she and her family moved to Lancaster, PA, where she moved at Swam Watch Factory.
After moving back to Plantersville, she worked in housekeeping on Myrtle Beach.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on Sat., June 7, 2014 at Greater Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church in Plantersville Community of Georgetown, with Rev. Thomas Brockington officiating.
Burial followed in the church cemetery, under the direction of McKnight-Fraser Funeral Homes.
She leaves to cherish her memories are three daughters, Alethia Simms, Bertha (Leroy) Swinton of Lancaster, PA, and Esther Greene of Georgetown; four sons, Willie (Frances) Morant, Victor (Elizabeth) Morant of Lancaster, PA, Leon Morant of Georgetown and Franklin (Kathy) Morant of Orangeburg; 27 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great grandchildren.
