Fatal hit and run near Murrells Inlet

The South Carolina Highway Patrol says a man who was found dead in a ditch near Murrells Inlet died as a result of a hit and run. Horry County Police Lt. Robert Kegler says body was found near the Georgetown County line in Murrells Inlet this afternoon.

A person called 911 at around 1 p.m. after finding the body in a ditch near Blackmoor Drive and SC 707.

The identity of the person has not been released.

The Horry County Major Crimes Unit is on the scene investigating as well.
