To the Editor:
As our two weeks of Spring vacation in Pawleys Island is coming to a close, I vowed not to leave here until I wrote to you to tell you how much that your column will be missed.
I genuinely look forward to the stacks of papers that accumulate with our months of absence, just so that I can read what you’ve written.
I haven’t found this little newspaper useful for much else, other than the occasional new advertisement that I haven’t seen 49 times.
Over the years, I’ve clipped out what you’ve written and sent it to friends, or our children... I’ve used them in conversations and then simply dwelled on others.
Your life’s experiences have been great, though some may not have seemed so at the time, and they faithfully gained you an abundance of very interesting stories to tell.
You are a man of great vision, and integrity. Your convictions parallel mine and Dale’s and your willingness to publish truth in such a bold, but always honorable way has been refreshing.
I believe that you have used your gifts as a writer in a way that has been pleasing to our Lord, and I believe to have not written as you have, would’ve been a waste, even a sin.
So I leave you with a scripture that I believe speaks to your work. James 4:17 “To the one who knows the right thing to do and does not do it, to him it is sin” ..
We have greatly appreciated your wisdom and your candor and will surely miss your column.
May God continue to bless you.
