A stabbing that occurred last night in the Socastee section of Horry County has been deemed a justifiable homicide.
According to police spokesman Robert Kesler, at about 10 p.m. May 28, officers with the Horry County Police Department’s South Precinct responded to an address on Maypop Circle in Socastee in reference to a stabbing. Upon their arrival, they located a male victim suffering from an apparent stab wound that was considered to be a life threatening injury. The victim was transported to a local hospital and pronounced deceased shortly after arrival.
Detectives responded to the scene and an investigation was initiated. The investigation revealed that a physical altercation occurred between the male and an adult female, where the female was being assaulted by being dragged and struck in the face multiple times. During the assault, a juvenile after seeing this, did grab a knife; at which point the juvenile did stab the male a single time to protect the female who was getting assaulted.
As a result of the investigation and after conferring with the Solicitor’s Office who was on scene, it was determined that the homicide was justified. There will be no charges in this case, which is now considered closed.
