This big world is very different for toddlers and babies as they are just beginning to use their senses to learn about their surroundings. Hobcaw Barony is providing the perfect opportunity for children four and under to visit the Discovery Center and begin exploring nature in a fun and hands-on experience. With the guidance of a Hobcaw Barony staff member, the exhibits will allow children to use their hands, eyes, nose and ears to connect with the natural world. They’ll listen to animal sounds, see and touch live animals, see and smell tree products, and much more.
“No age is too young! Any age can learn to appreciate and connect with nature, and building that deep appreciation begins very early,” says Trista Hindman, interpreter with The Belle W. Baruch Foundation. Trista will also be leading the program and, as a new mother, can’t wait to share her love of nature with this brand new generation of children.
Playdate is Saturday, May 24 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and costs $5 per child. Adults are free of charge and must accompany their children during the program. Pre-registration is required. Please call the Hobcaw Barony Discovery Center with any questions and to register children at 843-546-4623. This particular program will be completely indoors.
