Murrells Inlet acident leaves one dead, one hospitalized

Two people who were walking across Highway 17 Business near Inlet Square Mall Saturday night were hit by a vehicle. It happened at about 11 p.m. near Inlet Square Mall. Sgt. Bob Beres, with the South Carolina Highway Patrol said the two were , reports a 2001Ford F-350, driven by a 56-year-old man, was traveling south on Highway 17 Business near Offshore Drive in Murrells Inlet when it hit two pedestrians crossing the street.

One pedestrian died, the other was transported to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.  That pedestrian's condition is unknown at this time. The driver has not been charged and the investigation is continuing.
