To the Editor:
Thank you for including the brief article “Rubillo chosen as a 2014 top student.”
As I said when dropping off the letter about Jeffrey’s success at the Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics in Hartsville, “that’s my boy!”
A terrific musician, a skilled practictioner of marital arts, an ever improving athlete, and a really nice, kind and thoughtful human being with a terrific sense of humor, Jeffrey is a very admirable young man in every respect.
The Governor’s School, having been recognized by the Washington Post as one of the top 30 high schools in the country, and his academic achievement is both remarkable and a tribute to him and to those in the Georgetown County School District who laid the foundation for his success in a very tough academic environment in which he now competes.
The faculty and staff at Kensington School, Georgetown Middle School and Georgetown High School who helped Jeff deserve of recognition and thanks for their work with Jeff and all the others they have helped along the way.
All that said, I must add an important fact to the article. It ended by saying “Rubillo is the son of Tom Rubillo of Georgetown.”
That statement is only partially true, and not even 50 percent so.
Jeffrey’s mother Nancy is the parent in Jeffrey’s life who is most responsible for his successes.
She has consistently and tirelessly nurtured, protected, encouraged, urged, prodded and advocated on Jeffrey’s behalf since he was an infant.
She has been and remains Jeffrey’s primary parent and his best parent.
I honor and salute her for that.
