Mack Joye, age 71, of the North Santee Community of Georgetown, died on Friday, May 2, 2014, while a patient of Tidelands Hospice House.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Fri., May 9, 2014 at Mt. Zion African Methodist Episcopal Church, 9911 Powell Rd., Georgetown, with burial following at the church cemetery.
A viewing was held at 6 p.m. on Thurs., May 8, 2014 at Wilds Courtyard Chapel.
Mr. Joye was born on May 31, 1942, a son of Samuel Joye and Susan Swinton Joye.
Since early youth, he was a member of Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church.
In 1960, he graduated from Howard High School, and later served in the U.S. Army until receiving an honorable discharge.
He retired from International Paper Company, after many years of employment as a security guard.
Mr. Joye was united in holy matrimony to the late Susan Swinton.
He is survived by two sons, Farron Joye of Georgetown and Trevor Morris of Long Island, N.Y.; and one sister, Alice Richardson of Philadelphia, Pa.
Funeral services are entrusted to Wilds Funeral Home, LLC.
