Hampton Plantation State Historic Site and Nature Adventures Outfitters are offering a fun Motherís Day paddle at the former rice plantation on Sunday, May 11th.
Participants will start the day off with a special Plantation House tour focusing on the interesting women of Hampton Plantation.
After lunch participants will embarking on a wonderful two hour blackwater paddle on Wambaw Creek.
This easy paddle will take participants near the rice canals hand dug by slaves more than 200 years ago, exploring what is now a natural habitat for a wide variety of plant and animal life.
The paddling will be led by certified canoe and kayak instructors and a naturalist from Nature Adventures Kayak, Canoe and Hiking Outfitters Inc.
The cost is $35 for participants 13 and up, $25 for 12 and under. Lunch is not provided. Participants are advised to bring bug spray and a bagged lunch.
