Tastes at Pawleys slated for April 27

  • Wednesday, April 23, 2014

Tastes at Pawleys, a popular food festival launched in 2007 and organized annually by the Precious Blood of Christ Catholic Church, will be held in the Church’s Parish Life Center at 1633 Waverly Road in Pawleys Island from 4 until 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 27.

Originally patterned after the very successful Taste of the Town held at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center in October of each year, an impressive lineup of favorite local restaurants will showcase their best recipes for appetizers, entrees and desserts.

Advanced tickets at $4 each and children 12 and younger are admitted free can be purchased during business hours in the Parish Life Center of the church, at the Pawleys Island branch of Conway National Bank and at Strand Spine Institute on Ocean Highway. At the event, attendees can purchase food tickets in increments of $1 to buy “tastes” at restaurant booths. Wine, beer, soft drinks and water will also be sold.

The beneficiary of the 2014 Tastes at Pawleys is Father Pat’s Lunch Kitchen. Also located on the Precious Blood of Christ Church campus, the Kitchen was opened with funds from the very first Tastes at Pawleys. Named for the Rev. Patrick J. Stenson, it has now served more than 70,000 meals to the community’s underprivileged. It is open for lunch on Wednesdays and Thursdays between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. and for breakfast on Saturday mornings between 9 and 11 a.m. Between 200 and 300 people receive a meal each week.

This year’s participating restaurants include Austin’s Cabana Café, bisQit, Bistro 217, Caffe Piccolo, The Chocolate & Coffee House, DeRoMa’s, Frank’s, Get Carried Away, Gios, Hanser House, Hog Heaven, Lakeside at Sanford’s, Litchfield Beach Fish House, Nosh, Ocean One Austins, Pastaria 811, Pawleys Island Bakery, Pawleys Plantation, Pawleys Island Raw Bar and Quigley’s Pint & Plate.

Ample parking is available, and volunteers will be on hand transport guests from car to the Festival in golf cart limos.
