The Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office says a man whose body was found on the beach in Garden City Tuesday morning appears to have died from self-inflicted injuries.

The body was found around 11:30 a.m. by a person walking on the beach, according to Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Carrie Cuthbertson.

She said the person found is a white man who “appears to have succumbed to a self-inflicted knife wound.”

The autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday morning at Grand Strand Hospital.

The man’s name has not been released.
