A fire that killed one and injured others has now been brought under control.
The fire began at about 4 a.m. in a "multi-family building" on Calhoun Drive in the Garden City area, according to Scott Thompson, assistant chief with Horry County Fire Rescue.
Six others were transported to the hospital.
This fire happened one day after four people were injured in a condominium fire on Lotus Court in Murrells Inlet. In that incident, two people jumped from a window of the second-floor condo to escape the flames.
The other two were rescued by firefighters.We will have updates throughout the day.
