Augusta, Ga., has little on Murrells Inlet. Want azaleas? The Marsh Walk had them. How bout well-dressed golfers? Murrells Inlet was home to those too Saturday. Amen Corner – that was right behind Drunken Jack’s.
OK, so maybe the club of choice was a putter rather than a driver, and the top prize money was $400 rather than more than $1.6 million, and no one had to worry about not making the cut.
The MarshWalk Masters even had something its more famous cousin lacked — holes in one.
The MarshWalk Masters drew a crowd of 144 golfers and when the final putt went into the hold, Tim Bruno walked away with the top prize of $400, besting Coleman Bess and Kenny Pellar.
John Allen was awarded a gift card for being the best dressed.
The fifth annual event had a new sponsor — the Marshwalk restaurants — but the camaraderie remained.
A hole in one was just as exciting and a bad shot was met with frowns that would make the most proficient golfer proud. And a really bad shot brought out the wallets for a $5 do-over.
