Palmetto Goodwill seeks donations at retail sites to support mission services

  • Tuesday, April 15, 2014

Charleston – As people clean out their closets for spring, Palmetto Goodwill asks you to consider donating unwanted items to help the community. Without donations, Palmetto Goodwill's ability to provide mission services is negatively impacted.

Traditionally February and March are low months for donations, but this year donations are down significantly from last year. Spring donations provide an enormous amount of support to the Goodwill mission of job training and employee development. More than 90 percent of all proceeds from selling donated goods go to helping people achieve their full potential through the dignity and power of work.

“We want to send out a special reminder during the spring season. Don't throw away those gently used clothes and household wares,” said Goodwill President and CEO, Robert Smith. “Donate them and help people in your community find work.”

Last year Palmetto Goodwill kept 19,870,525 lbs out of area landfills, and through those donations in the Grand Strand, Palmetto Goodwill served 9,616 people.

If donating large items like furniture, donors can make an appointment for a pick-up of items at a home or business. You can make an appointment for pick-up by calling 843-650-0163843-650-0163. Call Send SMS Add to Skype You'll need Skype CreditFree via Skype
