Mary G. Cooper, age 88, of Hemingway, S.C.


Betty Smith

Betty Fraser Smith, age 73, died on Monday April 7, 2014 at Waccamaw Community Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday April 12, 2014 at Belin United Methodist Church, Murrells Inlet, conducted by Rev. Marvin Caldwell Sr.

Visitation will take place in the sanctuary of the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of service.

Mrs. Smith was born on Sept. 4, 1940 in the Brookgreen section of Murrells Inlet, a daughter of Mrs. Frances R. Robinson Mattox.

She was lovingly reared by adoptive parents, Absalom and Rebecca Fraser.

Mrs. Smith was a 1958 graduate of Howard High School and on June 20, 1958, was united in marriage to Robert L. Smith.

For a number of years she was a member of Brown Chapel U.M.E. Church and served the church well in several leadership capacities.

Surviving are her husband, Robert Smith of Murrells Inlet; three children, Adrian Smith of Murrells Inlet, Rodney Smith of Charlotte, N.C., and Angela Smith of Lithonia, Ga.; two brothers, Earl Lee Robinson of Myrtle Beach, Frank Robinson Jr. of Columbia, S.C., and Andrew Williams of Murrells Inlet.

Funeral service arrangements are entrusted to Wilds Funeral Home, LLC.

Nell Watson

Nell Ethridge Watson, age 74, of Andrews died Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at Tidelands Hospice House in Georgetown.

Mrs. Watson was born in Andrews on Oct. 24, 1939, a daughter of the late Barney Roberson Ethridge and Blanche Feagin Ethridge.

She grew up in Andrews and graduated from Andrews High School.

Mrs. Watson worked for Oneita Knitting Mills for many years.

She loved fishing and was a very loving mother. Mrs. Watson was a member of Piney Forest Baptist Church.

Surviving are her husband, B. Frank Watson of Andrews; and a daughter, Meri West of Andrews.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Watson was predeceased by a son, Michael West.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday afternoon, April 11, 2014, at Family Worship Center.

Officiating will be the Rev. Murray W. Powell.

Burial will follow at Piney Forest Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday evening, April 10, 2014, at the Andrews Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home.
