the Georgetown County Autism Support Group wore “Light It Up Blue” T-shirts to visit the Georgetown City Fire Department wearing their BLUE uniforms in honor of World Autism Awareness Day.
They are looking forward to some other upcoming events. The Georgetown City Fire Department will host an Open House on June 5 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. with the Georgetown County Autism Support Group and Family Connections, who serves children with various special needs. There will also be other representatives from the Sheriff’s Department and the City of Georgetown Police there on that day. They will be offering tours, games, activities and food. Also, the 4th annual “Autism and You” seminar, which is sponsored by the Georgetown Hospital System Women’s Board, will be held on May 2 at the Georgetown Memorial Hospital. The seminar will include Cindy Schneider, national speaker and author of “Acting Antics”; Marcella Ridley, founder of Winston’s Wish Foundation and author of “Ryan’s Law”; representatives from SCDDSN, Next Step Pediatrics, SC Interventionists, Lowcountry Autism Foundation, and more.
