Eugene Cyrus age 90 of 76 McGill Rd Hemingway, SC


Rebecca Carr

Rebecca P. Carr, age 81, of Pawleys Island, died on Sunday, March 30, 2014 at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 4, 2014 at Brown Chapel U.M.E. Church in Murrells Inlet, conducted by Rev. Charlie Thomas, pastor.

Viewing was held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at Brown Chapel.

Mrs. Carr was born on August 28, 1932, a daughter of Walter Geathers and Rebecca Carr.

She was a member of Brown Chapel U.M.E. Church, where she was Mother of the Church and served on the Adult Choir.

Mrs. Carr was also a former cook at Sunny Side Restaurant.

She is survived by her husband, Carolina Carr of Pawleys Island; four children, Celestine V. Amparvado of Elmont, N.Y., Debra Robinson and Felicia A. Carr, both of Pawleys Island, and Eddie Lee Geathers of Myrtle Beach; four sisters, Sarah Gary and Ms. Lillie Carr, both of Pawleys Island, Norma Ann Geathers and Diane Davis, both of Myrtle Beach; two brothers, Walter James Geathers of Myrtle Beach and James “Marchie” Carr of Pawleys Island.

Funeral services are entrusted to Wilds Funeral Home, LLC.

Linda Gilliard

Linda Gilliard, age 61, of the Woodland Community of Georgetown died on Sunday, March 30, 2014 at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at Love Chapel Deliverance Center, conducted by Apostle Avis Fraser.

Visitation will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday April 4, 2014 at Wilds Courtyard Chapel.

Mrs. Gilliard was born on Dec. 9, 1952 in Georgetown, a daughter of Arthur Ladson and Clara Bell Keith Ladson.

She attended Andrews High School and for some time was a member of Greater Gethsemane Baptist Church.

Later she joined Love Chapel Deliverance Center where she was Mother of the Church and involved in the Women’s Ministry.

Mrs. Gilliard was also part of a family singing group, “The Gospel Vision.”

Survivors include her husband, James Gilliard Sr.; her children, Tyrone Ladson of Myrtle Beach, Nancy Ladson of Atlanta, Ga., Waneda Ladson, Dedrick Gilliard and Kalisha Gilliard, all of Georgetown, and James Allen Gilliard of Mrytle Beach; her mother, Clara Bell Ladson of Georgetown; and one sister, Mildred Davis of Georgetown.

Funeral services are entrusted to Wilds Funeral Home, LLC.

Jacob Haynes

Jacob A. Haynes, age 66, of Hemingway went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, March 31, 2014 at Kindred Hospital, Greensboro, N.C.

Jacob was born on May 16, 1947 in Cameron, S.C., a son of the late David and Corine Glover Haynes. He retired as a Control Tower Supervisor from International Paper with more than 40 years of service.

He is survived by his children, Jason Haynes of Wake Forest, N.C., Cami Haynes of Jacksonville, Fla., and Brandon Haynes of Georgetown; brothers, Willie Glover of Queens, N.Y., David Haynes and Isaac Haynes, both of Cameron, and Hercules Haynes of Orangeburg, S.C.; sisters, Betty Haynes of Cameron and Rose Haynes of New York City; and two grandchildren, Kensley Haynes and Jason David Haynes.

A Celebration of Life service was held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 3, 2014 at Burroughs Funeral Home.

Officiating was Rev. Boyd McDaniels Jr.
