A group of women who call The Lakes at Litchfield home are helping victims of domestic abuse in Georgetown County. The “Card Ladies”, as they are affectionately referred to, hand craft and create greeting cards for purchase by residents and the surrounding community.

Members Greta Ferri, Pauline Ward, and Dean Parker presented another $1,000 to representatives Vicki Borus and Beverly Kennedy from the Family Justice Center of Georgetown County during a ladies luncheon at The Lakes. Over the past seven years they have collectively raised and donated $16,000.

The Card Ladies sell their refurbished greeting cards at the community throughout the year for around $2. All of the proceeds go to the Family Justice Center of Georgetown County. “We wanted our money to go to battered women, this state is one of the worst,” notes Ferri.
