Upstate conservative favorite filing to challenge Graham

  • Friday, March 28, 2014

As of Wednesday morning it is official: Lee Bright has filed his paperwork with South Carolina’s Election Commission to challenge Lindsey Graham for the Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate seat. Graham filed on the 19th.

“Lindsey Graham joked that he agreed with most of the current senators’ positions when he filed a few days ago,” said Bright before filing. “What I’d like to know is he talking about the Graham that works in Washington, or the one who knew something about South Carolina 20 years ago? He has become a creature of Washington, bought and paid for by Washington lobbyists, and is a big enabler of the Obama-Reid agenda. I don’t think many South Carolina voters agree with any of that.”

Bright has been the dominant figure among Graham’s challengers, leading all available polling and garnering the lion’s share of the high profile endorsements.
