Jackets top Wolves

Andrews’ baseball team remained undefeated in the region with a 3-1 win over Timberland on Monday night.

Mason Jones went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run; Jeremy Rufus went 2-for-3 with a run; and Ethan Wright went 1-for-3 with a double.

Wright scattered three hits and struck out 14 to pick up the win.

The Yellow Jackets then lost to Elizabethton, Tenn., on Wednesday night.

Andrews is 3-3 on the season.


The Bulldogs boys golf team beat St. James 164-186 on Monday.

Georgetown’s Doc Young shot a low round of 40.

Other Bulldogs’ scores: Carter Weaver 41; Will Marlowe 41; Evan Runion 42.

The boys tennis team fell 4-3 to St. James last week.

Ben Wilkins lost Dayton 6-0, 6-0 at NO. 1 singles;

David Stalvey won 6-0, 6-4 at No. 2; Brice Sanders won 5-7, 7-5, 10-8 at No. 3; Jarrett Cooper lost 6-2, 6-7, 10-8 at No. 4; Will Freeman won 5-7, 6-4, 10-6 at No. 5; Wilkins and Chris Holmes lost 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles; and Stalvey and Gabe Holmes lost 4-6, 6-3, 10-6 at No. 2.

“This was a nail biting match with four of the seven varsity matches ending in tiebreakers,” said coach grace George. “That is as close as it gives. The boys really gave it their all. We played this team now two times in a row and eight of the 16 matches played have ended in tiebreakers.”

The Bulldogs boys soccer team lost 6-0 Myrtle Beach last week.

Chuckie Duke had 13 saves.

The softball team lost 10-9 to St. James last week.

Taylor Graham went 3-for-5 with a home run, three RBIs and a run; Blakely Graham went 2-for-3 with two runs; and Anna James went 1-for-4 with a home run, three RBIs and two runs.

Lowcountry Prep

Thomas Deschamps went 3-for-3 with four RBIs to help the Fighting Marlins baseball team beat Myrtle Beach Christian Academy on Tuesday. One of Deschamps hits was an inside-the-park home run.

Will Bushnell went 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

“It was a close game there at the end but the Marlins finished with a final ‘K’ to seal the deal,” said coach Matthew Jordan. “It was a game which showed our ability to fight hard in a tough situation, which I believe every team needs to experience in order to grow.”

Lowcountry Prep is undfeated this season.


The Warriors baseball team lost 8-7 to Loris on Tuesday night.

The Lions banged out 12 hits and were helped by five Waccamaw errors. Loris also committed five errors.

“Our errors were more costly than theirs,” said head coach Jeff Gregory. “Every error cost us a run.”

Andrew Reichart led the Warriors offense with a double and two RBIs.

Tucker Perry struck out nine in eight innings and only three of Loris’ eight runs were earned. As a sophomore in that big of a game, he really came out,” Gregory said.

The boys golf team shot a 632 to win the Seahawk Invitational last weekend.

Individual Warriors scores: Will Canipe 154; Davis Hogan 162; Patrick Golden 165; Adam Woolridge 168. The softball team beat region rival Mullins 18-0 in three innings last week.

Caitlyn Krask was 2-for-3 with four RBIs; Madison Homnick had a double and scored three runs.

Haley Butler got the win.

The Lady Warriors then lost 6-1 to St. James on Thursday.

Isabelle Sanchez had two hits.

MacKenzie Lugin took the loss.
