Bayview, Choppee shootings reported overnight

  • Sunday, March 23, 2014

We are awaiting additional details about two shooting incidents from overnight.
Georgetown police confirm one of the incidents occurred shortly after midnight. They say one man was shot in the lower abdomen and is being treated at the Georgetown Memorial Hospital. The shooting reportedly occurred at a home on Park Street in Bayview. There were reports the SWAT team was called to the Park Street home overnight because of reports of someone being barricaded inside but police say they are now searching for a suspect.
"Law Enforcement has a person of interest and they are searching for that person," Police Capt. Nelson Brown says. "No names are being released at this time as this is still an active investigation. More information will be released as the investigation progresses."
The other incident reportedly happened at the Choppee Health Center at about 10:40 p.m. where a crowd was gathered in the gymnasium.
We are told there may have been more than one person shot with BB or pellet guns. One person was allegedly shot in the face and was taken to Grand Strand Hospital.
We will pass along more information about both of these incidents when we receive additional details.
