P&G donates 960 TP rolls to GC Fire

  • Thursday, March 20, 2014

Georgetown County firefighters received a donation of a different type this week.
It is normal for businesses to donate things needed for fire fighting to fire departments. Things such as thermal imaging cameras, fire gear and maybe, from time to time, a vehicle or two.
But the shipment that arrived this week will really help the county’s fire men and women when they have to go.
Georgetown County Assistant Fire Chief Tony Hucks confirmed Thursday the department has received 960 rolls of toilet paper, contributed by Proctor and Gamble as part of the Charmin Relief Project.
It is part of a nationwide donation to one fire house in every state – that’s nearly 50,000 rolls of toilet paper to 50 firehouses in 50 states, said Proctor and Gamble spokeswoman Laura Underwood.
“Charmin recently asked consumers to share stories via Facebook and Twitter of firehouses in their communities that were experiencing sub-par bathroom conditions and in need of relief.  The brand then picked one in each state that could use the extra support,” Underwood states. “Charmin says America’s firefighters put their behinds on the line day in and day out, to keep their communities safe, and they wanted to do something to help this much loved but often underfunded group of public servants.”
