Anita Crone/For Inlet Outlook Early Monday morning officers were called to a condominium near the Garden City Connector and U.S. 17 bypass with a report that a man was holding a woman against her will.

A man was in custody Tuesday after what started as a domestic dispute early Monday turned into a roughly five-hour standoff with Horry County police officers.

Wilbur Joshua Snow has been charged with criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature and kidnapping in connection with the incident on Coastline Court.

Early Monday, officers were called to a condominium near the Garden City Connector and U.S. 17 bypass with a report that a man was holding a woman against her will, said Lt. Robert Kegler, Horry County Police spokesman. He said that officers tried to establish contact with the man but were initially unsuccessful.

Kegler said that once contact was established, negotiators were able to talk the man into coming out of the condo, and the man and a woman left the building about 9:15 a.m. The woman was being treated for unspecified injuries.

Among the first responders at the scene was an ambulance from the Murrells Inlet Garden City Beach Fire and Rescue. Capt. Rodney Jewett said that the ambulance was standing by at the scene in case it was needed. The ambulance returned to the station about 9:30 a.m. on Monday.
