Children from Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church in Georgetown raised more than $1,700 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital during their first “Let The Children Come Bike-Trike-A-Thon held on March 1.

The Children’s Department at Duncan had agreed to match those funds for additional support to St. Jude.

More than 20 children raced around the “NASCAR” themed race track at the church’s Family Life Center. Parents and members of the church were there to cheer them on as they raced scooters, tricycles and bicycles that morning.

Georgetown City Police Officer John Prevatte, was on hand to give the children safety advice and check their “St. Jude Drivers License.” Prior to the event the children spent four weeks learning “bicycle safety tips.”
