They came in their finery — girls in special dresses, some of the girls wearing their first hint of lipstick — men in suits and ties — all brought together by the most elementary of relationships: The love between a father and a daughter.
The couples — or threesomes or foursomes — got the lead out with fast dances or held on tightly for the slower movements.
But it was obvious that there were special relationships. Wilson Springs stooped to pin a corsage on daughter Kenan; Chris Conklin chased after one-year-old Celeste, who barely stopped long enough to try on hats; and a group of fathers got their exercise holding up their daughters to the strains of “YMCA.”
The annual event at Belin Memorial United Methodist Church benefits the church’s international missions.
