It's terrible! There are so many bad people. Now I've gotten the news that people are targeting the elderly for crimes. Most crimes are financial crimes against the elderly. There are all sorts of financial scams that cheat elderly people out of money. It gets even worse. Now they are trafficking in elderly people.
I don't understand this at all. I thought I understood what human trafficking was. It could be kidnapping young children and make them work in some kind of pornographic movies. It could be getting people working as undocumented workers or as indentured servants. I thought that was the extent of all this human trafficking business.
Don't be mad at me. I'm not making light of any of these crimes. All are terrible. It's just my mind took a funny turn. What would these traffickers do with these elderly victims?
The first thing that came to mind would be to get these people to act as surrogate grandparents. That actually might work. My parents and grandparents are dead. It would be nice to have some elderly person to act as my grandparent or old uncle. He could come over for a visit. The first thing would be to tell old stories that happened over 100 years ago. Tales that old cannot be verified. Stories like that can become wilder with each telling.
Maybe these people could be hired to teach children the things not to do. "Tell us about the time you broke that casino in Vegas when you were 16 Grandpa!" Just imagine the squeals of delight with each telling of the Janice Joplin concert in San Francisco.
Just think of all the possibilities of learning to knit from an old aunt. "You girls need to learn this if you are ever going to get a man." You could get one of these elderly people to tell you a tale of great inheritance. "When I die, I'm going to leave you my 1968 Chevy C-10 pickup to you. It only has 57,000 miles on it. I bought it new in Kansas City. I keep it in storage."
It doesn't matter that this elderly person doesn't have a pick up. Remember this person is trafficked from some foreign country.
A group of this trafficked merchandise could go into a local restaurant for breakfast and add new perspective to the problems with government, income tax fairness and of course the poor treatment of elderly people.
The transfer of knowledge could be greater than the Internet. It would not matter that these old guys were involved in a human trafficking scheme. It could be a funny story no matter what. Everyone involved would be complaining about the government while receiving some sort of government check for his or her retirement.
I'm concerned for all the elderly. I do hope for good and fair treatment of all people. If somebody kidnaps me for human trafficking, I hope it's for the movie business.
