-Georgetown County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 30-year-old Calvin Leonard Polite, of 23 Kean Neck Road in Seabrook, S.C. for drug violations.

Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Carrie Cuthbertson said deputies were working traffic enforcement in southern Georgetown County Sunday and initiated a traffic stop on a speeding vehicle. While deputies were speaking with the driver a strong odor of marijuana was detected.

“A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed five bags containing almost 100 grams of marijuana, a small baggie weighing 1.8 grams of what is believed to be cocaine, several white pills and a scale,” Cuthbertson said.

Polite was taken into custody without incident and charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana, Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine, and Possession of a Schedule II Narcotic.

He was transported to the Georgetown County Detention Center.
