Thinking Cap Quiz bowl

Thinking Cap Quiz bowl results were posted February 21st with Waccamaw Intermediate School taking 15th place in the 6th grade and 12th place in 5th grade competitions.

Twelve 6th graders placed 15th in the Southeast with a score of 1158 which is 91 %.

Twelve 5th graders placed 12th in the Southeast with a score of 1133 which is 89%.

The participating 6th grade students were Covey Loftus, Jack Congdon, Wade Maring, Ashley Kopplin, Bella Cervini, Jake Birchmeier, Hunter Haynes, Tiana Dabria, Hannan Mackey, Zoe Dear, Bennett Adler, Jonah Stump, Alex Gauthier, Davis Howard, and Wyman Crosby.

The participating 5th grade students were Samantha Jaouiche, Megan Stackhouse, Anna Bird, Emily Phillips, Chloe Johnson, Connor McMahon, Ella Fata, Jackson Barnes, Britana Myers, Bailey Piererse, James Lanford, and Tyler Tomko.

Local residents named to Clemson University Presidentís List

CLEMSON Ė The following local residents have been named to the Presidentís List at Clemson University for the fall 2013 semester:

Andrews: Caleb Cohen.

Georgetown: Bryce Dechamplain and Christopher Mann

McClellanville: Eliza Leland.

Murrells Inlet: Ross Durant and Ansley Farmer.

Pawleys Island: Grace Barnett, Austin Meares and Brett Vanheyningen.

To be named to the Presidentís List, a student must achieve a 4.0 (all As) grade-point average.

Clemson University Deanís List

The following local residents have been named to the Deanís List at Clemson University for the fall 2013 semester:

Andrews: Cortney Bryant, Nathan Harrington and Matthew Rufus.

Georgetown: Madison Cooper, Nicole Cyr, Alyssa Daniel, Rachel Hemingway, Carolyn Lazzari, Mary Loftus, Rebekah Parsons, Eliza Shaw and Stuart Wilkins

Hemingway: Lukas Danie.

McClellanville: Chelsea Frasier.

Murrells Inlet: Thomas Collins, Kathryn Derrick, William Escoe, Dante Giovagnoli, Dominic Giovagnoli, Michael Kirkendale-Haak, Kevin Liu, Maggie Nelson, Candler Smith, Madison Walton and Samuel Welch.

Pawleys Island: William Boatman, Benjamin Brackett, Katharine Brackett, William Burdette, Murray Dorn, Hayes Green, Richard Hood, William Richmond and Erin Wilson.

To be named to the Deanís List, a student must achieve a grade-point average between 3.50 and 3.99 on a 4.0 scale.

Georgetown County resident named to PC Provostís List

CLINTON Ė Presbyterian College has named a Georgetown County resident Helen Elizabeth Wilkins, a senior religion-Christian education major, to the Provostís List for the academic semester of fall 2013.

ďEach semester, Presbyterian College is pleased to recognize the educational achievements of its students. During the fall term, scholars on the Provostís List displayed excellent academic ability and we are very proud of their accomplishment,Ē said Provost Don Raber.

In order to be eligible for the Provostís List, a student must maintain a 3.3 or better grade point average based on a 4.0 system.

The student must take a full course load of at least 12 semester hours of undergraduate credit with all academic courses impacting their grade point average.

Local student named to Deanís List at Columbia College

Andrea Pieterse, the daughter of Frankie and Kristi Pieterse, has been named to the Deanís List for the fall term at Columbia College.

To be named on the Deanís List a student must complete at least 12 hours in the semester with a 3.5 grade ponit average.
