Anita Crone/For The Times Sue Sledz served two terms as executive director, the second term a three-year stint that began in November 2011.

Sue Sledz, who has spent nearly a decade involved with Murrells Inlet 2020 and its predecessor, Murrells Inlet 2007, announced her plan to retire effective Aug. 31. Sledz said in a March 5 letter to the board of directors that she is committed to assisting with the transition and “working to enable our new executive director a successful and seamless move into the position this summer.”

Sledz said that the summer is the best time to bring in a new executive director because there is no fundraising going on and that it also is the time when plans and the budget are being formulated for the next year. “This will allow the executive director to get in at the ground floor of that planning.”

Sledz served two terms as executive director, the second term a three-year stint that began in November 2011.

She credited the board and they credited her with increasing the organization’s net income, fundraising activities, grant revenues and projects for the community.

The board is expected to approve a job description for the executive director, among other position descriptions, at its April meeting and officially begin the search for a new executive director.
