It was Mardi Gras - Georgetown style - on Fat Tuesday

A taste of New Orleans invaded Front Street Tuesday as a Fat Tuesday Street Strut and Mardi Gras party were held in Georgetown.

Parade participants braved the temperatures in the mid-30s - which was more than 40 degrees colder than it was during December’s Christmas parade. Despite the chill, everyone seemed to have a great time.

Al Joseph of the Georgetown Business Association called it a “stellar event” and said the party held at the S.C. Maritime Museum was a complete sellout.

He said the party will be held in a bigger location next year because the museum had an overflow crowd.

Along with the GBA and the Maritime Museum, the events were sponsored by the Cultural Council of Georgetown County and the Georgetown County Chamber of Commerce.
