Ruth Holmes Lance

Linen-Knox Funeral Home announces the funeral services for Mrs. Ruth Holmes Lance, age 87, of 231 Annie Bell Drive in the Dunbar Community of Georgetown.

Mrs. Lance was the daughter of the late Mr. Robert Holmes and the late Mrs. Lizzie Canteen Holmes of the Dunbar Community of Georgetown, S.C. who died on Tuesday, March 4, 2014. Mrs. Lance was the wife of the late Henry Moses Lance of the Dunbar Community.

Funeral services for Mrs. Lance will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church in the Dunbar Community of Georgetown, S.C. with the Rev. Dr. Eddie Gamble, Jr., Pastor, officiating, and the Rev. James A. Carroway Sr., Pastor of Old Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in the Plantersville Community of Georgetown and St. Joseph Missionary Baptist Church in the Pee Dee Community of Georgetown. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

A viewing will be held on Friday, March 7, 2014 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. and a memorial service will be held from 6-7 p.m. at Linen-Knox Funeral Home Chapel on 1632 Emanuel Street of Georgetown.

The final viewing will be Saturday, March 8, 2014 at the church after the hour of service.

Mrs. Lance is survived by her loving three daughters: Mrs. Margie Hotnit of Bronx, NY, Mrs. Amelia Lance of North Carolina, and Mrs. Jannie Lance Morant of the Plantersville Community of Georgetown, S.C.; and a host of loving grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.

Joe Linen Jr.

Linen-Knox Funeral Home announces the funeral services for Mr. Joe Linen Jr., age 69, of North Brunswick, N.J., the son of the late Mr. Joel Linen and the late Mrs. Elease Ford Linen of the Dunbar Community who died on Monday, March 4, 2014 at St. Peter’s University Hospital in New Jersey. Mr. Linen was the husband of Mrs. Edna Linen of North Brunswick.

Funeral services for Mr. Linen will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 2 p.m. at the Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church in the Dunbar Community of Georgetown, S.C with the Rev. Dr. Eddie Gamble, Jr., Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

A viewing will be held on Friday, March 7, 2014 from 6-7 p.m. at Linen-Knox Funeral Home Chapel on 1632 Emanuel Street of Georgetown.

Mr. Linen is survived by his loving wife and four children; wife Mrs. Edna Linen of North Brunswick, N.J.; three daughters, Mrs. Alma Linen-Palmer of Franklin Parks, N.J., Mrs. Mary Alice Rice of Bronx, N.Y., and Mrs. Joann Linen of Franklin Parks, N.J.; one son, Gregory Linen of Somerset, N.J.; one sister, Mrs. Hattie Mae Grimmage of the Dunbar Community of Georgetown; and one brother, Mr. William Linen of Bronx, N.Y.; and a host of loving grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.

Debbie Miller

Debbie Miller, 60, of Georgetown died at her home Wednesday, March 5, 2014.

Mrs. Miller was born January 23, 1954 in Georgetown. She graduated from Winyah High School in Georgetown.

She was predeceased by her husband, Joe Miller of Georgetown, and a sister, Donna Wilson Pope.

Survivors include: two daughters, Jennifer Thompson (Eddie) of Georgetown and Lisa Huber (Kevin) of Key West, Fla.; five grandchildren, Lucas Morris, Tyler Huber, Chandler Irvin, Payton Mercer and Mattie Anderson.

She was an active member of Grace Temple Church in the Oak Grove Community of Georgetown County.

A memorial service will be held at Grace Temple Church Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 11 a.m. Brother Randy Wilson will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Grace Temple Church, 30 Indian Hut Road, Georgetown, SC 29440.

Arrangements are in the care of Burroughs Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Murrells Inlet.

Keith Sullivan

Keith Edward Sullivan, 45, of Emerald Isle, NC, died January 12, 2014 by accidental drowning in the very waters he loved sailing. Keith was born June 4, 1968 in Houston, Texas.

Keith lived aboard his sailboats for many years, most recently S/V Saga, before his death. His sailing blog may be viewed at www.carolinakeith.com.

Keith is survived by a daughter, April Sullivan of Marathon, Florida; brothers Kevin and wife Stephanie of Hong Kong, Kerry and wife Hana of Sydney, Australia, Kenneth and partner Amy of Emerald Isle; sisters, Kelly Sullivan Wyatt and husband Wesley of Apex, and Kimberly Sullivan Oestereich and husband Bill of Apex. He will also be remembered by many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at St. Andrew the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 3008 Old Raleigh Rd., Apex, NC 27502 at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 13.

The family will receive visitors at 10:30 a.m. at the church.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the family for a service project that is being planned in memory of Keith. The family will purchase survival whistles to hand out to boaters to encourage safer boating. Donations may be sent to Kelly Wyatt, P.O. Box 4481, Emerald Isle, NC 28594.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the good people of Georgetown, SC, the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office, the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources and the local boating community for their support and assistance during the days Keith was missing.
