Socastee High School performing arts has scheduled a weekend of Shrek the Musical, running March 6 to 9.
Based on the DreamWorks film, the stage performance, directed by Farrah Beaudry, the school’s choral director, is the story of a faraway kingdom that is turned upside down when an unseemly ogre, instead of a handsome prince, shows up to rescue a feisty princess.
Other characters include a donkey who won’t be quiet, a bad guy with a short temper, a cookie with an attitude and more than a dozen other fairy tale creatures.
More than 100 people have been involved in bringing the show to the school’s stage.
The curtain rises at 7 p.m. March 6 and 7, and at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. March 8 and 9.
Tickets are $12 for general admission and $17 for reserved seating.
Reservations can be made at www.SocasteePerformingArts.com.
