A Georgetown teen who was reported missing Thursday morning was found safe at about 5:15 p.m. Thursday afternoon.

At about 2 p.m. Thursday, the Sheriff's Office notified the media that investigators were searching for 16-year-old Nyala Keshon Smith who was possibly abducted from a bus stop near her home in Browns Ferry.

Deputies received a report about the situation at about 10 a.m. Thursday.

Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Carrie Cuthbertson said Smith was seen at about 6:30 a.m. at her bus stop on Sutton Road.

“Witnesses reported seeing the missing juvenile in what appeared to be an altercation with a black male,” Cuthbertson said, adding he was later identified as 19-year-old Anthony Marquise Williams of 821 Sutton Road in Georgetown.

At 6:30 p.m., Smith was being interviewed by investigators.

At the time it was unknown if any charges would be filed in the case. We will provide updates when we receive more information.
