Walter Lee Mack, age 58, of 1809 Cow Head Rd., Hemingway, SC

FUNERAL SERVICES

Eva Grant

Eva Grant, age 77, formerly of Georgetown, died on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at the Medical Clinic in New York, NY. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 2, 2014 at Wilds Courtyard chapel conducted by Rev. Joe Canteen. Burial will follow in Bethesda Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday March 2, 2014 from 12:00 noon until time of service.

Ms. Grant was born on January 21, 1936 in Georgetown, SC a daughter of Mr. Frank Grant and Mrs. Rebecca Taylor Grant (both deceased).

Having graduated from Howard High School she attended Benedict College in Columbia, SC and earned the Bachelor of Science Degree.

Until her retirement she was employed with the City of New York as a computer technician.

Survivors include her sisters; Mrs. Ruth Williams and Mrs. Wilhelmenia Canteen, both of Georgetown, SC, Mrs. Susan Mann, Mrs. Marie Gibson, and Mrs. Frankie Archibald all of New York, NY. Services are entrusted to Wilds.

Mary Joye-Lowe

Mary Ethel Brown Joye-Lowe, 91, of Georgetown, the beloved mother of Henry J. (Lois) Joye, Jr. and Larry Gene (Barbara) Joye, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 20, 2014 at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Lowe was born the daughter of Jake Brown and Rose Rouse Brown on August 9, 1922 in Marion County. She was a retired employee with the Georgetown County School District. She was a charter member of the First Church of the Nazarene of Georgetown where she served and ministered, including: Sunday School teacher, Women’s Auxiliary, and the Church Board. She committed her life to acts of selfless giving, fervent prayer, and an unconditional love to earn her the distinguished titles – Beloved Mother.

She leaves behind: her two sons; three grandchildren, Timothy R. Joye, Traci (Ed) Watson, Jay (Erin) Joye; and four great-grandchildren, Makenzie, Parker, Elijah Brooks, and Ellison. She also leaves behind: six brothers, Paul T. Brown, Willie (Ellen) Brown, Donnie (Margaret) Brown, Jake (Anne) Brown, Lewis (Jane) Brown, and Terry (Debbie) Brown; two sisters-in-law, Jacqueline Brown and Maybelle Brown; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by: her parents, her husbands, Henry J. Joye, Sr., Dillion C. Lowe, and Daniel W. Mills; and three brothers, Leon Brown, Jake F. Brown, and Robert L. Brown.

A Going Home Celebration was at the graveside at 3 p.m., Sunday, February 23, 2014 in the Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens directed by the Georgetown Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.

Visitation was Saturday evening, February 22, 2014 at the Georgetown Chapel.

McKenzie Funeral Home is honored to serve the Joye family.

Vance Nesmith

Vance Harrell Nesmith, 73 of Nesmith died Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at Tidelands Community Hospice House in Georgetown. Vance was born August 15, 1940 in Nesmith, SC, a son of the late Willard T. and Pearl Cox Nesmith.

He was a graduate of the University of South Carolina and had a career in banking in Columbia, Miami, and Atlanta. In 1996 he returned to his family home in Nesmith and began a career operating UPS Stores which he opened in Pawleys Island and Murrells Inlet.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Wendell Wilson

Wendell “Wendy” Ray Wilson, 45, of Andrews, the beloved son of Barbara P. (Frank) Wilson Alexander and the late Gary Gene Wilson, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at his residence.

Wendy was born June 30, 1968 in Georgetown. He attended the Grace Temple Church and South Side Ministries. He loved going to church, singing, and reading his bible. He was an avid Nascar and USC Carolina football fan.

He leaves behind: his mother; a sister, Rhonda W. (John) Hooks; and his niece and nephews, Paige, Barry, and Dustin. He also leaves behind an extended family of aunts and uncles; and a special friend, Christopher Bryson.

He was predeceased by: his father, and two brothers, Gary Gene Wilson, II and Jeffery Miles Wilson.

A Going Home Celebration will be 3 p.m. Saturday, March 1, 2014 at the Grace Temple Church. Interment will follow in the Spring Pond Cemetery directed by the Andrews Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.

Visitation will be prior to the service from 1-2:30 p.m. in the church sanctuary.

McKenzie Funeral Home is honored to serve the Wilson family.
