Solicitor silent on reason Heather Elvis suspect moved to Georgetown County

  • Thursday, February 27, 2014

One of the two Horry County people charged in the kidnapping and murder of a still-missing 20-year-old woman has been moved from the J. Reuben Long Detention Center to the Georgetown County Detention Center.

Tammy Caison Moorer, age 41, and her husband, Sidney Moorer, age 38, were arrested nearly a week ago and were charged on Monday with the murder of Heather Elvis of Myrtle Beach.

Elvis has been missing since Dec. 18, which is when police say they can tie Sidney Moorer to talking with Elvis on her cell phone in the middle of the night.

Solicitor Jimmy Richardson would not give a reason for the move. “We acknowledge and appreciate your questions regarding Tammy Moorer, however, we are unable to comment on any pretrial matters because of ethical concerns and the risk of jeopardizing either the current investigation or future prosecution at this time,” Richardson said Thursday.
