Kidnapping charges filed Sunday in Heather Elvis case

Two people arrested Friday on a warrant stemming from the Heather Elvis disappearance were each charged Sunday with one charge of kidnapping.

Tammy Lorinda Moorer, 41, and her husband, Sidney St. Clair Moorer, 38, have been incarcerated in the J. Reuben Long Detention Center after a search warrant for their Myrtle Beach home was executed on Friday. The two were arrested and each charged with two counts of indecent exposure and one count of obstruction of justice.

Tammy Moorer made the $20,000 bail on those charges according to a posting on the detention center’s webpage.

Sidney Moorer had not posted bond on those charges, according to the website. Each of the indecent exposure charges was $5,000 bail and the obstruction of justice charge was set at $10,000.

Officials from the Horry County Police Department, the State Law Enforcement Division, the 15th Circuit Solicitor’s Office, the U.S. Marshal’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol executed the warrant at the couple’s home at 8786 SC 814, about 12 miles northwest of Garden City.

Elvis, 20, was last heard from in the early morning hours of Dec. 18. Her car was found in Socastee the following day. Since that time, volunteers have held vigils and searched the area on numerous occasions, but no trace of the young woman has been found.
