In celebration of the school nurses who work diligently supporting the Healthy Learners mission of removing children’s health barriers to learning, on April 1, Healthy Learners will give away a weekend trip for two to Charleston to a school nurse dedicated to the health and wellness of school children in our state. One winning South Carolina school nurse will be chosen by Facebook voters for a weekend away. The criteria for the contest is straightforward. Simply submit your nomination on the Healthy Learners Facebook page. Healthy Learners Facebook followers will then vote for their favorite school nurse. One school nurse in South Carolina will be declared a School Nurse Superstar and will win a weekend trip for two to Charleston. Nominations are open through March 14, with an open voting period March 17-31. The winner will be announced on April 1 on Facebook .

Healthy Learners is a faith-based non-profit that connects children to care so that poor health is not an obstacle to doing well in school. The organization addresses poverty at its root, so that future generations can lift themselves, and their communities, to a better life.

Healthy Learners was founded in 1992 based on the belief that children learn better when they are healthy. A ministry of the Sisters of Charity Health System, Healthy Learners has five programs that serve 145 schools across nine South Carolina school districts. The counties served are Allendale, Dillon, Georgetown, Greenwood, Lexington and Richland. For more information, see
